In conjunction with state budget for 2023, the Labor Party, the Center Party and SV have agreed to increase the minimum pension level for single people by 4 thousand NOK from 1 January br

– In the Hurdal platform, the government said that we would increase the minimum pension. I'm glad we're introducing it a higher amount for single minimum pensioners, says Minister of Employment and Integration Marte Mjøs Persen.

Secure your future pensions

The increase currently included in the regulations means that minimal the pension level for single retirees from January 1, 2023 is NOK 236. Going forward, the government also wants a fairer system pension.

– A committee with a broad political composition has proposed better regulation of minimum levels in the future. The government is also working on a follow-up to the proposal committee with a new, clear majority in the Storting in mind to secure future pensions, says Mjøs Persen.

The rate increase and subsequent payment will be included in the March NAV payment. See more information on this subject on the NAV website.

The government is also changing the rules on housing benefits

Due to the increase in the minimum level, pensions are also being introduced from March 1 changes in the regulations regarding housing allowance.

– The increased minimum level previously resulted in some people receiving a reduction in their housing allowance. To counteract this, the government is changing the rules on benefits housing, so that an increase in the minimum pension level does not result in an unjustified reduction in housing allowance, says Mjøs Persen.

Housing Benefit had temporary rules throughout 2022, allowing many more people than normal to receive Housing Benefit. This program has been extended until next summer. Every month up to and including May, those receiving Housing Benefit will receive an additional NOK 1500 in addition to NOK 150 per household member.
