People who have recovered from COVID-19 in Norway will now be released from quarantine for 12 months. COVID-19 Certification Will Be Updated To Be Green For 12 Months After Recovering From COVID-19

Until now, the period of exemption from infectious quarantine for people who have recovered from COVID-19 was 6 months, depending on the documentation of the disease in the Norwegian health service. The Norwegian government is extending it Currently, the exemption period is up to 12 months. The change will enter into force on August 28, 2021.

“We now have solid knowledge that shows that people who have recovered from COVID-19 have good protection for at least 12 months. That is why we are extending the release from transmission quarantine for this group of people - says Minister of Health and Welfare Bent Høie.

The COVID-19 certification for home use will also be updated to be green for 12 months after a person has recovered from COVID-19. The technical solution is to be ready by September 9.

The changes are introduced on the basis of the recommendations of the Norwegian Health Directorate and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health.

There will be no corresponding change to the travel quarantine exemption for people who have recovered from COVID-19. This is because the EU only allows recovery certificates for up to 180 days.

Creating a solution to extend the travel quarantine release would require a large technological resource, and few people would benefit from any changes. Adults in this group can be vaccinated, which gives them permanent release from travel quarantine, while children can shorten the quarantine period if they present a negative PCR test result after 3 days.
