Record sales of electric cars
– We are amazed record sales of electric cars in Norway, but this time the neighborhoods are really helping to pull the weight. This is definitely the end of the time when electric cars were just a big city phenomenon. Says Unni Berge, head of communications and public relations at the Norwegian Electric Car Association.
The reasons for the development are better charging networks in the Norwegian area and greater access to long-range cars, luggage space and a tow bar.
NAF believes the figures show that authorities need to quickly implement better charging infrastructure. NAF has estimated that nearly 500 fast chargers are missing, most of them on the main Oslo-Kristiansand and Oslo-Trondheim routes.
"Norway's policy on electric cars is a success, but the charging infrastructure along the roads is not part of the development," said Camilla Ryste, NAF's communications manager.
