. Here is a preliminary overview of the measures that are being withdrawn or extended.

Unemployment benefits

From October 1, 2021, new unemployment benefit applications will be processed under the normal rules that were in force before the coronavirus pandemic.

The following programs will be extended until October 31, 2021:

• If your unemployment benefit and severance pay period has expired, it will automatically be extended until October 31, 2021.
• If you are receiving unemployment benefits, the rate will continue to be calculated according to the special rule that will result in a higher unemployment benefit payment.
• You can work 60 percent of your normal working hours during the reporting period and still receive reduced unemployment benefits

If you are in receipt of unemployment benefit, the extensions also apply until and including October 31, 2021.

Sickness benefit

From October 1, the employer sick pay reimbursement program will be interrupted for days 4-16 when sickness absence is caused by COVID-19. The program now only applies to sick leave, which starts before October 1.

Additionally, sickness benefits are accounted for in the case of coronation absences for self-employed workers and freelancers for 4-16 days from October 1. The program now only applies to sick leave that commences before October 1.

Your entitlement to Illness Benefit for or in case of suspicion of covid-19 is extended until October 31st.

Care allowance

Until October 31, you can use childcare days when you need to be home with your children because

• kindergarten or school is closed due to coronavirus
• your child is not allowed to attend kindergarten or school due to specific infection control considerations
• the child or the person who normally takes care of him is in quarantine

This applies throughout the year:

• Doubling the number of care days.
• The employer cannot demand a medical certificate from the 4th day.
• Possibility to transfer care days to another caregiver when kindergarten or school is closed due to coronavirus.

. Income security for frontier workers

The compensation system for EEA workers who do not commute due to entry restrictions is abolished. Entry restrictions for this group ended on September 25. The right to compensation ceased at the same time, ie for the periods from September 26 inclusive.

Compensation scheme for self-employed and freelancers

The program, under which self-employed and freelancers can claim compensation for lost business income or income from freelance work, will be withdrawn from October 1.

Supplementary benefit for persons with short-term residence in Norway

As of October 1, the exemption from the obligation to appear in person at the NAV office will be abolished. You must now meet in person at the NAV office to claim benefits. The inspection declaration is terminated and the inspection interview is resumed in person at the NAV office.

Other programs valid until the end of the year

• Payment holiday unemployment benefit for peoplewho received unemployment benefits in 2020.
• Simplified determination of normal working hours when applying for unemployment benefits
• Admitted apprentices who were awarded unemployment benefits on a special basis before October 1, 2021 may keep their unemployment benefits until the end of the year if they have not reached the maximum period before.
• Exemption from the obligation to be present in person for a medical certificate.
• Income from commissioned and voluntary services in the health care system in connection with the corona pandemic, obtained before January 1, 2022, is not subject to income reduction for people with a pension contract (AFP) from the public sector.
