Elkjøp's electronic network is changing and has decided to provide equal pay and bonus programs to all employees.
- We have always had freedom of association. We have now found a model that sends a clear signal that this will be a strong point at Elkjøp. At the same time, it provides continuous safe workplaces for everyone, says Stein Riibe, director of HR at Elkjøp Nordic, in a press release.
Elkjøp has been criticized after E24 wrote that unionized workers are not allowed to participate in the network's monthly bonus program.
In September, LO terminated its millionth contract with Elkjøp because they found that the electronics giant was discriminating against workers. At the meeting on Monday, the High School was informed about reaching an agreement. Elkjøp describes the dialogue between the parties as constructive and good.
– We are a large organization and we have always operated according to the principle of being a learning and listening employer. It is important to us that there is no doubt about freedom of association. We now start working on putting the systems in place equal salaries and bonuses for our employees, says Riibe.
Elkjøp payroll and bonus systems
In eleven department stores in Norway workers Elkjøp decided to organize based on collective agreements. This gave them hardship allowances and better retirement earnings, but meant they could no longer take part in the network's monthly bonus program. The monthly bonus was reserved for employees without a collective agreement, Elkjøp confirmed this in August to E24.
