Hepatitis A in Norway

The National Institute of Public Health has detected an epidemic of hepatitis A. So far, ten people have been diagnosed with the infection nationwide. They are likely infected by food.

- None of the infected have been abroad. Given where infected people live, they are likely to be infected by widespread food, says senior adviser Heidi Lange of the Infection Control and Emergency Preparedness Department at the National Institute of Public Health (FHI).

In addition to the ten confirmed cases, two more people may be infected.

Hepatitis A in Norway

Those infected are between 25 and 80 years old, mostly male, and live in different parts of the country. Viken (6), Oslo (1), Trøndelag (2), Vestfold and Telemark (1), Innlandet (1) and Troms and Finnmark (1).
