With assets of NOK 52 million, Trade and Industry Minister Jan Christian Vestre (Labor Party). He is the government's second multimillionaire after Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

Vestre will continue to receive millions of dollars in dividends from the family-owned outdoor furniture company, while for the next four years it will be the new government's trade and industry minister, writes E24 .

- The dividend was allocated, inter alia, to to pay the property tax on shares in the company. - Informs Vestre in an e-mail to the newspaper.

He owns 70 percent of the company bearing the family name that was founded in Haugesund in 1947. He explains to the newspaper that most of the assets are shares in a furniture company.

VG collected tax data from 2016 to 2019, which shows that Vestre has revenues of 2,5 to 3,3 million NOK. According to Vestre, it was a combination of salary and dividends, as well as management fees and other benefits. The actual salary of the CEO of the furniture company was over 1,5 million.

So there will be no major changes when the 35-year-old takes the position of Minister of Trade and Industry. The current salary of government members is NOK 1,41 million.

By comparison, Vestre's new head, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Labor), has a fortune of around NOK 90 million. It comes from the legacy of the sale of stove producer Jøtul, which was owned by the family until the 70s.
