Why do fruits, vegetables and cola affect a positive coronavirus test?

Food and drinks can have a positive effect on the rapid tests we use to see if we have the coronavirus. But why do they become positive? Does this mean the tests are not working?

People in homes around the world have been running rapid coronavirus tests on everything from lemon to cola. Some of these food and drink items tested positive in the test, i.e. two red lines.
