, to the lowest since the beginning of October. In southern Norway, the price will drop to an average of 78 øre per kilowatt hour on Wednesday. This is only the second time the daily price has dropped below 80 øre this month, pturns out the latest overview from the Nord Pool Power Exchange. On the last day, the price was as low in this part of the country as it was on October 3. Then it dropped to 48 øre per kilowatt hour. Prices do not include network rent, fees, VAT and any surcharges from energy companies.

Electricity price in southern Norway was the highest on record on Tuesday last week. On October 19, the daily price was NOK 1,43. Weak winds in Europe, less water in reservoirs and an energy crisis in large parts of the world are largely blamed for rising prices.

According to the records, prices ranged on average from 80 øre to just over 1 kronor per kilowatt hour during the day. More wind in the UK and Germany over the past week helped bring prices down from the highest levels.

Increased UK wind power production also contributed to negative electricity prices for Britons on Thursday night. Then the country exported for the first time electricity to Norway with the new North Sea Link power cable.

Financing from the country

On Friday last week it was announced that the government will provide CZK 3000 in additional housing support for people living in areas of the country where electricity is the most expensive. A total of 66 households will be helped to pay their electricity bills in November.

In central and northern Norway, prices are still much lower than further south. In Trøndelag the daily price is 13 øre per kilowatt hour, and in northern Norway it is 14 øre. Electricity prices in the regions north of Dovre have remained lower this month, and since October 14, the daily price has remained below 20 øre.
