Due to high electricity prices, the new government will propose a NOK 2,9 billion reduction in electricity taxes.

It is Finance Minister Trygve Slagsvold Vedum (Sp) who announces the NRK cut on Monday morning. At 12 o'clock the government will present a proposal for changes in the state budget.

- In the winter months, from January to March, we reduced the electricity tax by about 48%. For the rest of the year, we will cut by around 9 percent, says Finance Minister Trygve Slagsvold Vedum (Sp).

He describes the measure as a big cut. It means that the state will receive 2,9 billion less tax revenues from electricity next year compared to this year.

The cut will be around 10 øre per kilowatt hour from January to March. Analyst Tor Reier Lilleholt of Volue Insight tells E24 that an individual can save anywhere from 500 to 1000 kronor over the winter if he uses 3000 kilowatt hours per month.

He adds, however, that the state also has large increased revenues as a result of higher income electricity prices.

- You pay 25 percent VAT on energy prices, so the state has a huge income when prices are high, says Lilleholt.

The government plans to lower the electricity tax

According to the Nord Pool energy exchange. An annual record of 2,8 kronor per kilowatt hour is expected to be set on Monday afternoon. Together with the network rent and all other subsidies, this will mean a price of around NOK 4 per kilowatt hour for ordinary households.

The high price means that a regular shower will cost around 20 kronor on a Monday afternoon
