The Supreme Court rejected Telenor's appeal. The telecommunications company has to pay a fee of NOK 788 million for the abuse of a dominant position.
The background to the case is the pricing model Telenor had in its 2010-2014 wholesale deal with Network Norway.
The Supreme Court decision was announced on Friday and mentioned by NRK but on Monday Norwegian Competition Protection Office confirms that the Telenor case has been closed.
– Now that the decision of the Norwegian Competition Authority is final, it sends an important signal to Telenor and other companies, that have a dominant one position. They have a special responsibility not to act in a way that weakens competition, says competition director Lars Sørgard in a press release.
After the Norwegian Competition Authority fined Telenor in 2018, the case went to Gulating's Competition Appeals Commission and Court of Appeal before being brought before the Supreme Court, which dismissed the appeal on November 26.
Telenor has to pay 788 million
The fee of NOK 788 million is the highest audit ever carried out.
