From midnight in Nord-Jæren an order to wear face masks was introduced
From midnight on Thursday, December 2, an order to use face masks was introduced. The use requirement applies if you cannot keep sufficient distance from other people on the bus, taxis, shops and malls.
The background for the introduction of the new infection measure in the municipalities of Stavanger, Sandnes, Sola and Randaberg is the general infection situation for respiratory diseases in Nord-Jæren. The decision is also driven by the pressure that is currently being put on hospitals, emergency rooms, health services and schools in the region.
- We are now strengthening one of the national measures to reduce the pressure on important social functions. We at Nord-Jæren are in a different situation than before. Now we all need to do everything we can to contain the spread of the infection. These measures also remind us that we need to be more aware over the Christmas season, say Mayors Kari Nessa Nordtun, Stanley Wirak, Tom Henning Slethei and Jarle Bø.
The introduced infection control measure will run until January 7, 2022.
The new infection control measure in the four municipalities of Nord-Jæren was introduced from midnight on December 2 and will run until January 7, 2022.
Requirement to use a face mask on public transport, at internal stations, in taxis, shops and shopping centers. This order applies when you cannot keep a sufficient distance from others. However, this requirement does not apply children under 12 years of age or people who cannot wear a face mask for medical reasons.
- Vaccinations are still the most important infection control measure and a cure for serious diseases. We want to emphasize once again that vaccination is important not only for the individual but also for the community, say the four mayors of Nord-Jæren.
