Norway will join forces with the United States for a green transition

Green change comes first. Trade and Industry Minister Jan Christian Vestre is meeting with the business community this week and holding political talks in New York and Washington.

- The US and Norway have long and solid relationships, and now we want to join forces to achieve global climate goals. Although Norway is a small country, we can contribute to world-class technology and expertise, says Trade and Industry Minister Jan Christian Vestre.

This week he is going to New York and Washington to accompany the Norwegian prince with the Secretary of State and Secretary of State for Oil and Energy. The program includes meetings with Norwegian business and industry with activities in the USA. The minister will also hold political meetings on how business cooperation can be used to achieve climate goals.

- Green change is one of the most important issues for both the Biden administration and the government. To achieve this, business cooperation is absolutely crucial, we will not solve the climate crisis alone, says Vestre.

Meeting with Nancy Pelosi

The program includes Interviews with Congressional Members Suzan DelBene and Rick Larson, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, and House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

- Norwegian business and industry have technology and solutions to several challenges that the United States and Norway are working on together. We are a leader in offshore technology. Thanks to this, it is a long way ahead when it comes to the development of investments in wind energy, batteries and hydrogen. Norway is an active and constructive partner with the US on sustainable change and technological solutions to climate challenges, says the Minister for Trade and Industry.

Several green jobs in Norway and the USA

The Minister of Trade and Industry will, among others, participated in the opening of new DNB offices. In New York, he will also see the planned Equinor port area, where wind turbine equipment will be installed. They will deliver as planned electricity to 1,6 million households in New York.

He will also take part in a seminar on financing the green shift on the New York Stock Exchange, which is the world's largest capital market. In Washington, he attends a business policy seminar on green growth and enhanced Norwegian-US cooperation in the transition to a zero-carbon society.

– The United States invests in every year Norway has billions and is also a very important market for investment Norwegian. I am involved in positioning the Norwegian business environment for sustainable investments and global investments in the green transformation, says Vestre.

He began work on identifying areas where business cooperation with the United States could be strengthened.

- Good relations with the US are of great importance for Norway, and especially for our goals of creating more jobs. It is also important to strengthen investment in the continent, increase exports to the continent and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. At the same time, Norwegian companies and solutions can contribute to the green transformation, economic growth and new jobs in the US, says the Minister of Trade and Industry.
