Last week (week 52), NAV received notifications of temporary layoffs (permittering) for 900 people, as well as notifications of layoffs for 50 people. A total of 78 companies reported layoffs over the past week.
- There are currently very few notices of temporary layoffs from accommodation and catering companies. Most of the layoff notices last week come from industry and transport and storage companies, says Hans Christian Holte, director of labor and social services.
Only companies that are considering temporary layoffs or layoffs of 10 or more people are required to notify NAV. 11 percent of warnings last week were concerning less than 10 people. Alerts that affect at least 100 people account for 29 percent of temporary layoff notices.
NAV is not notified by companies that have withdrawn notices of release.
Decrease in the number of applications for unemployment benefits
Last week there was also a decrease in the number of applications for unemployment benefits. NAV received a total of 4800 applications for unemployment benefit in week 52. All evenly distributed among 2400 applications for temporary layoff and 2400 regular unemployment benefits. 1500 applications for unemployment benefits came from people working in housing and catering businesses.
