We have experienced historically high electricity prices in recent months. Now many of them are having trouble paying their electricity bills. Negotia has received many messages from concerned members demanding that the authorities do something about it.

- Many of our members have contacted us, frustrated by high electricity prices. This is a painfully aware problem that strongly affects the personal finances of many people. Therefore, Negotia believes that the patterns implemented by the authorities must be better and wider than they are today, says the union leader in Negotia, Monica A. Paulsen.

As a trade union, Negotia must act to promote the financial interests of our members. This is mainly done through annual wage negotiations at local and central levels. Electricity prices directly affect the price index of consumer goods and services. Thus, they will also be able to influence in the future payroll settlements.

“When the cost of living rises significantly - as it is now - this will be taken into account in the payroll,” says Paulsen.

– As you know, the government has implemented it funds for the months from December to March, which alleviate some of your electricity bills. We will take a close look at their effects and closely monitor future developments and assess whether there is a need for further action, says Monica A. Paulsen.
