The government is lifting the entry quarantine requirement for people without a valid certificate. They believe that this requirement is no longer necessary for infection control.

The new rules come into force at 00:00 on Wednesday 26 January.

Currently, people who come to Norway from the quarantine area and cannot document that they have been fully vaccinated or have had COVID-19 with a valid certificate. They must pass an entry quarantine.

In a press release, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare writes that the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) has recommended this to the government. FHI points out that 7% of travelers "without coronavirus certification" registered travelers and 4 percent. cases of infection.

A relatively small percentage of those infected

- I agree with FHI that the percentage of infected immigrants without a certificate is so small due to the situation of infection we now have in Norway. The time has come to change the entry quarantine requirement, says the Minister of Health and Healthcare Ingvild Kjerkol in press releases.

The ministry states that travelers they still need to check and register upon arrival in Norway. The requirement to issue a certificate of a negative pre-arrival test still applies. This applies to people who cannot prove with a certificate that they have been fully vaccinated or have had COVID-19.

Quarantine

- Infection quarantine for loved ones who are members of a household or similar family, has already been completed. From January 26, infection quarantine for household members and relatives will be able to be replaced with daily tests, says Kjerkol.

People who are already in entry quarantine can leave it from midnight on January 26.
