Meteorologists warn of a winter storm in southern Norway

on Saturday evening and overnight through Sunday. We encourage everyone to secure loose items and do not leave the car while traveling unless necessary.

- It will be a storm with gusts more than 30 meters per second, says state meteorologist Unni Nilssen for NTB.

He says it's the strongest gusts of wind will arrive on Saturday afternoon, and the Norwegian Meteorological Institute has issued an orange warning.

Much of the wind will be in the southeast and along the coast to the west.

"We announced there would be snowfalls first, then sleet-rain afterwards," says Nilssen.

This will lead to difficult conditions - both on the coast and in the mountains, he adds.
