A decision was made to provide temporary collective protection to refugees from Ukraine. This means that asylum seekers receive asylum without a lengthy consideration of the case. Soon after their arrival and registration, they will leave for the municipalities.
It is the responsibility of the municipality to provide housing for refugees arriving in Drammen. There is a need to settle down in both private and municipal housing. Drammen Eiendom is currently working on mapping which premises for rent are in the municipality. But to achieve this, we need the help of the inhabitants of the commune.
The Drammen commune is looking for various types of housing for refugees from Ukraine
- Different types of housing are needed. First and foremost, self-contained housing rather than renting rooms in your own home or housing association, says Elisabeth Pettersen at Drammen Eiendom, and encourages individuals and companies with rental accommodation to register them.
There are several criteria for rented units:
- The house must be approved as a rental home and be equipped with the necessary fire alarm and extinguishing equipment.
- The Drammen municipality wants the lease to be concluded for at least three years, with a three-month mutual notice period. In addition, the lease agreement must comply with the Rent Act.
