Drammen Municipality has been asked to resettle 310 refugees. Eight of them are unaccompanied minor refugees. The commune was asked to be flexible and allow unaccompanied minors over and under the age of 15 to settle in. The municipality will now consider this application.

- We are currently examining the application, but we need some time. The municipality is currently investigating settlement capacity and is working on how to organize services to accommodate more refugees, says Dagny Nordal Pettersen, the municipality's director of work and life skills.

The municipality has to look at the whole thing and assess what it can handle

Refugees from Ukraine they are mainly women, children and elderly people. The commune is currently studying specific plans for their settlement and services. These include school services, health care, housing and an induction program for refugees. The municipality needs to look at the big picture, all the different services that the municipality is obliged to provide to refugees who may come to the municipality, and assess what the municipality can cope with.

The municipality must evaluate this inquiry and then submit an application which will then be considered. IMDi needs a prompt reply and asks for your feedback ideally by March 31, 2022.
