Loose plates have been discovered in Gamlingen and in the Hundvåg and Kvernevik swimming pools. These objects were built in the same period and with the same materials.

- We will start an investigation immediately to find out what is causing the loosening of the tiles, says director of Environment and Urban Development, Leidulf Skjørestad.

An external company was brought in for the analysis, which we will start in May. Hale no will be closed during the period in which the research takes place.

"We are making this decision now to create predictability for those who use the facilities on a daily basis," says subject manager Monika Eie in the sports department.

"We still don't know much, but now we decide to thoroughly inspect the halls in order to get to the bottom of the problem," says Skjørestad.

A complaint should be made

"We have the best Gamlingen image so far and we know there is a claim to be made," says Skjørestad.

The plan is to close Gamlingen for a minimum of four weeks, from week 39 to week 42.

- It is never pleasant to close the pools, and most of all we are sorry, because it affects those who use the facility on a daily basis. The most important thing is to care for the users. Gamlingen, unfortunately, does not have a suitable low season. However, we chose a period where visitor numbers are historically lower than normal, explains Eie.

- The contractor claims that the work will take about 4 weeks, but it depends on how extensive the problems are. We will get more information when we complete the investigation, says Skjørestad.

More information soon

It is still unclear whether the Hundvåg and Kvernevik pools will need to be closed for repair. More information about this will appear after exploring the places.

- We are still in the early stages. We have created an internally interdisciplinary group with us that will work with external experts. This will give us the combined expertise so that we can explore the three halls and get to the bottom of the problem, concludes Skjørestad.
