According to the Norwegian Public Roads Authority, work is underway to install temporary bridges. They are intended to replace some of the 14 closed truss bridges.

Closure of bridges naturally affects road users and traffic flow, in some places more than in others. These are the places where closure has the greatest consequences for road users.

Here are the locations of the temporary bridges

– That's why we are working to create temporary bridges on the busiest roads and where the most difficult possible detours are. This applies to the Tveit Bridge on the E16 in Vang in Valdres and the Moumbekken Bridge on National Road 22 in Fredrikstad, says department director Cato Løkken in Norwegian Road Administration Public.

"We are also investigating the possibility of erecting a temporary bridge for the Norseng bridge over the E16 at Kongsvinger, but due to the length of the bridge and the railroad running underneath it, it is a more complex project," says Løkken.

Preparations for the installation of the temporary bridges are ongoing and the bridges are expected to be ready in approximately one week. Temporary viaducts are provided by the Norwegian Public Road Administration's bridge rescue division.

Temporary bridges will have the same load capacity as permanent bridges, but they will be narrower.

Sorry for the inconvenience

- Work to find the cause of the collapse of Tretten Bru may take some time. Therefore, it is uncertain how long we will have to keep the 14 bridges closed, says Cato Løkken.

They understand very well that the closure of bridges is seen as an inconvenience for both private drivers and commercial hauliers and that they would like to know when the bridges will be reopened. However, it asks for your understanding that the work to find the cause of the collapse needs to be done thoroughly and may take some time.

14 bridges are closed to vehicles but are open to pedestrians and cyclists.
