Norwegian suspected of killing his girlfriend in Poland

On Saturday at 17:00 p.m., the father found his dead daughter when he went to her apartment in Oświęcim, 50 km west of Krakow.

The grandson was nowhere to be seen.

The man contacted the Polish police, who sent out an international wanted list for the father of the child, 25-year-old Ingebrigt G., father of 5-year-old Mia. Also sent the so-called Child Alert

Arrest in Copenhagen

The Norwegian was arrested in Copenhagen at 22.37pm on Saturday evening after being stopped in a car with a child. He was on his way to Sweden.

He was held in custody on Sunday, according to Ekstrabladet.

- It's a shock. We hope this is a misunderstanding, one of the man's family members tells TV 2.

“None of us foresaw this,” adds a family member.

According to Polish media, the Norwegian arrived in Oświęcim in October. According to TV 2, he stayed with a woman and their child during a visit to Poland.

They were all at the playground together and sent pictures home to Norway.

On Thursday, the Norwegian went shopping with his child.

Two days later, the 26-year-old woman was dead. A bloody knife was found next to the body.

“She was resourceful as a mother. It's a great tragedy. Poor child, says the neighbor.

He heard nothing from the woman's apartment on Saturday.

“I can confirm that a woman was found dead on Saturday. The prosecutor, who is overseeing the case, ordered the body to be secured for autopsy, says Sebastian Glen, a spokesman for the Polish police on TV 2.

On Sunday, a press conference was held at the District Prosecutor's Office in Krakow, at which Prok. Janusz Hnatko reported that "the man has been arrested." – The district prosecutor's office in Oświęcim issued a decision on the presentation of charges of murder, i.e. acting with the intention of killing a 26-year-old woman (…) as well as the kidnapping of a 5-year-old girl – he said.

The prosecutor's office will draw up a European Arrest Warrant

Hnatko also added that "the files together with this decision are transported to the District Prosecutor's Office in Krakow, where the European arrest warrant". – This is a form of detention of this person, i.e. temporary arrest abroad and transfer to the requesting country, i.e. Poland – he said.

The child will soon return to Poland

The prosecutor reported that Mia is currently under the care of Danish social services. 

– The Polish side was contacted, the family court expressed permission for this girl to be under the care of her grandfather, who went to Denmark and should return to Poland tomorrow with the child, he explained.
