From January 1 to June 1, 2023, there is an amnesty for weapons in Norway. This means that those in possession of illegal unregistered firearms can hand them over to the police without penalty. There are many thousands of illegal, unregistered weapons in Norwegian homes.
– Arms amnesty is introduced to prevent crime and serious accidents. If you are unsure whether you have an unregistered firearm, contact the police, says Liv Aasberg Corneliussen, head of section at the Norwegian Police Directorate.

However, not all outposts can receive such weapons. For more information on the amnesty and where to deliver your weapons, please visit Politek.no .
Be aware of security!
If you are to deliver the gun to the police yourself, you must check that the gun is not loaded. Also remember to pack your weapons before transporting them.
– Safety is important. If you are unsure how to handle a gun, ask someone who is a gun expert to help you or call the police on 02800. Explosives, grenades, gunpowder and fireworks must not be brought to the police. Contact us and we'll find someone who can help you, says Corneliussen.
The experience from previous arms amnesties is that most people wait until the end of the amnesty period. The police recommend that people use the entire period to avoid queues.
