On the night of Sunday, January 8, Øst Politidistrikt received a call from a private address in Spydeberg about two young girls believed to have overdosed on drugs. The police, ambulances rushed to the indicated address, where the police found two dead teenagers at the address. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed immediately, but none of them could be saved.
A third teenager was staying at the address indicated, who was hospitalized for treatment after taking intoxicants.

“The entire local community, and we as the local police force, are deeply affected by these deaths. We extend our deepest condolences to the closest relatives and friends of the girls. We are concerned that Indre Østfold should be a good municipality to live and grow up in. Therefore, together with the municipality, we will continue our preventive actions to make every effort to ensure that such tragic incidents do not happen again.
The police arrested a young man suspected of selling drugs to the girls
The arrested man will be taken into custody at Follo i Nordre Østfold District Court in Ski today at 13 pm. Prosecutor Benedicte Granrud will attend the meeting via Teams. Police will request that the trial be held behind closed doors as the investigation is at a very early stage.
The dead are 16-year-old twin sisters
At the request of relatives, the police are releasing the names of the two dead girls who were found at the address in Spydeberg on Sunday evening. The dead are 16-year-old twin sisters Mina Alexandra and Mille Andrea Hjalmarsen from Indre Østfold. The incident took place at the defendant's place of residence.
Based on the previous arrests and information on the course of events, the police changed the preliminary charge to involuntary manslaughter, cf. § 281. The police emphasize that this is still a preliminary charge as the investigation is at an early stage and that it can be changed again before available there will be final charges.
