The reconstruction of the Drag-Kjøpsvik ferry connection has started well. The connection is now reopened to traffic after being closed for two months. From November 1, the MF Vardehorn ferry will return to its normal route.

Green, safe and available

When the ferry quays are completed in December 2022, the Norwegian Public Roads Authority will launch emission-free ferries (electric ferries) on both connections crossing the Tysfjord area. Rebuilding will also provide a better and safer traffic flow. At the same time, a service building is being built with living quarters and toilets adapted to all travelers (universal design).

Demanding movement

On January 3, 2022, the E6 Bognes-Skarberget connection will be closed for three months. Also for reconstruction. Then all traffic is directed through Drag-Kjøpsvik and two ferries will run there. This means more cars on the road and traffic may sometimes be slower than usual. Therefore, the Norwegian Public Roads Authority encourages everyone to drive extremely carefully. Allow extra time for your journey, reduce your speed and pay special attention to school children, other road users and those working on rebuilding ferry piers.

New timetables

The new timetables for the period with two ferries via Drag-Kjøpsvik will be published later.

Continuation of construction works

The ferry port at Drag and Kjøpsvik will continue to exist for a long time construction site. This will create some local challenges. Parking spaces at the ferry quays will have a temporary gravel surface. The Norwegian Public Roads Authority and the contractor Peab Anlegg AS will implement the necessary dust control measures. However, sometimes people who live near or work near construction sites may experience noise and dust while working.

. Limited parking

The machines, which currently occupy part of the parking lot at the Kjøpsvik ferry quay, will remain until the completion of the reconstruction in December 2022. This means that until then, the number of parking spaces in this area will be limited. The Norwegian Public Roads Authority and Peab Anlegg AS will make parking as easy as possible, but unfortunately it is not possible to carry out construction work without occupying part of the area where parking is usually carried out. We apologize.
