It is not obvious that the cheapest driving school is the best. Always check references and avoid prepayment.

Learning at a driving school in Norway

If you want to get a driving license for a car, you must pass compulsory driving lessons. Among other things, you must take a basic traffic course before you can practice driving. Only schools approved by the Norwegian Road Administration can offer such courses. You can find an overview of approved schools on the website vegvesen.no.

The cheapest driving school is not necessarily the best. Check her references. Look at what people are saying about the school online and, if possible, talk to former students.

It is important that you and your driving instructor get along well. If not, you can change the teacher. It is also possible to continue teaching at another school, but then it is important to have a receipt for the training and a driving license.

Don't pay for your tuition in advance

By paying in advance, you are at a disadvantage than by paying later. For example, you cannot withhold money if you are not satisfied with the service.

Be careful not to withdraw large sums before completing your training. If you agree to a bundle offer, you need to check what is actually included in the bundle. If you pay with cash, it's important to get a receipt.

There are no separate contract rules between you and the traffic school. You must get what has been agreed. If you don't get it, you'll have the right to hold off on your money until you get what you should, a refund or a price reduction.

Like basically you have to pay for the driving lesson, at which you do not show up, you should not pay for an hour of lesson at which the driving instructor is not present.

If you feel that the teaching is worse than expected, you can notify the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. They will check whether the movement school meets the requirements.

How to go about making a complaint?

1. Complain to the traffic school

If you are dissatisfied with the teaching, you must report it to the school concerned so that they can fix it themselves.

2. Take the matter to the Conciliation Council (forliksrådet)

If you disagree, the matter must be settled in court, where the conciliation council is the first instance.
