PiS action: unannounced inspections in city offices

The Wielkopolska PiS MPs Tadeusz Dziuba and Tomasz Ławniczak began inspecting city offices in the cities of the voivodeship. Greater Poland. Interestingly, they visited only those places where the ruling party does not have a majority in municipal councils and does not have its mayor or president. The deputies were accompanied by TV crews from TVP. They rushed into the offices, demanding the release of documents and obtaining information according to the list they had prepared earlier.

Donald Tusk appeals: "Our solidarity can help"

On Wednesday, Donald Tusk, who is the head of the European Council, made an appeal to the leaders of the European Union and the G7 to support the European Film Academy's appeal regarding Oleg Sentsov. - "Our solidarity can save his life" - emphasized Donald Tusk.

Oleg Sentsov is a Ukrainian director. He is currently in a Russian prison after being sentenced to 20 years in camps. The trial had a political tone and he was accused of terrorist activities. As part of the protest, Oleg Sentsov runs a hunger strike, which has already been going on for the 24th day. Prison doctors warn him that if he does not stop his action, his kidneys will soon fail him. The Ukrainian director announced that he would continue his protest until Russia frees 64 Ukrainian citizens.

ZUS questions sick leave

According to official information, the Polish Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) withheld the payment of over 7 sickness benefits in the first quarter of 2018. These data come from the published report which concerned the control of the correctness of adjudication on temporary incapacity to work. The goal of ZUS was to eliminate unfair practices. The practice of being on sick leave is often abused by people who want to gain more time off work in this way. The sickness benefit is 80 percent of the salary the employee receives for his work.

Entrepreneurs appeal: Simplify VAT!

The Tax Council of the Lewiatan Confederation submitted its demands to the Minister of Finance. Their aim is to facilitate running a business in Poland. According to the authors of the document, many existing regulations make it impossible to operate efficiently running a company. The most important demands include:

  • introduction of annual VAT settlement
  • replacing the VAT declaration with the submission of JPK_VAT
  • extending the term of the right to deduct the amount of input tax
  • unifying the rules for correcting exports and intra-community delivery of goods
  • introduction of joint VAT settlement within capital groups

Currently, the Ministry of Finance is working on simplifying tax law. According to the representatives of the Lewiatan Confederation, the submitted demands will significantly improve the running of your own business, which will contribute to an even more dynamic development of Polish enterprises.
