Raymond Johansen, city councilor, emphasizes that the opening of the park will be an important cultural event for the city of Oslo and for the local community, which has had to endure the nuisances of construction for several years. Klosterenga Park will be a place where residents and tourists can relax and enjoy art every day. It is not only a unique place in the cityscape, but also an expression of care for culture and art, which is of great importance to the inhabitants of Oslo.

Construction of the park

The sculpture park was created by the famous artist Bård Breivik. It is known for its sculptures and decorations in stone and metal.

Kristian Blystad became the artistic director after the death of Bård Breivik. He completed the project in close collaboration with architect Jørn Skaare, Johansen Monumenthuggeri and the city of Oslo.

“Water plays an important role in the park, bringing the stream to the surface is beneficial for creating a good urban environment. At the same time, it is also an important environmental flood prevention measure that provides richer animal and plant life. So the park has many functions.

We invite everyone to the opening weekend

The sculpture park is located on Grønland. Work has been ongoing since the 90s with numerous delays and will be largely completed this spring. A smaller part of the project with the stream opening towards Grønlandsleiret remains.
