In mid-June, the new alert for mobile devices will be tested throughout Norway. On Wednesday, June 14, around 12.00, a full test of the new notification system will be carried out.
– The new mobile alert is a big step towards readiness. Communicating quickly and securely about an emergency or crisis also provides greater security. This was an important priority for the Center Party and the Labor Party in the government, says Justice and Emergency Services Minister Emilie Enger Mehl.
Mobile phones across Norway will beep and vibrate as the police send an alarm test to millions of mobile phones, at the same time civil defense is pressing the button to test more than 1200 alarm siren systems.
The notification test will be noticeable especially where many people gather and many devices will play the sound at the same time.

Talk about it with relatives, children or the elderly
The Directorate of Social Security and Crisis Preparedness (DSB) encourages people to speak to loved ones, children, the elderly and others around them beforehand. The point is to let as many people as possible be prepared and know that this is just a test.
– The government wanted to quickly introduce a system that would meet the demanding security situation. So far, society has relied on the Norwegian Civil Defense's siren system, which reaches about half the population. With a mobile phone alert, we can notify the entire country quickly and clearly. The new option strengthens self-preparation and is a significant boost to social security, says the Minister of Justice and Emergency Preparedness.
The test on Wednesday 14 June applies to all newer and updated mobile phones located in Norway
The mobile phone alarm is a supplement to the Civil Defense siren system and the notification procedures established by the police. If you are in an area where there is a serious danger or dangerous situation, the police can send you an alert about what is going on and what you should do to protect yourself.
The test on Wednesday, June 14 applies to all newer and updated ones telefonow mobile phones located in Norway and connected to the 4G/5G network. Some tablets and smartwatches can also display alerts. If your phone has not been updated, the test notification may not appear.
For the notification not to arrive, the phone must be in airplane mode or turned off completely. Silent sound, muted notification and the like are replaced. Cell phones receiving the test will also vibrate and play a loud siren-like sound for about 10 seconds. Text will appear on the screen explaining that this is an alarm test.
