These rules apply when you move or holiday in Norway, pick up a pet purchased abroad or return with it from a trip abroad.

This policy applies to travel to Norway from EU/EFTA countries other than Sweden. If you are traveling with a dog, cat or ferret from Sweden, simpler rules apply.
The animal must be tagged with a tattoo or microchip. If you were marked after July 3, 2011, only the microchip is valid.
Your pet must have an EU-approved pet passport.

Pets must be vaccinated against rabies. Vaccination must be done by a veterinarian, but the animal must be at least twelve weeks old. The first rabies vaccination is valid only 21 days after vaccination. If the animal is revaccinated, the validity of the vaccination is counted from the date of vaccination, provided that the validity of the previous vaccination has not expired at the time of administration of the new vaccination.
It is important that your pet is at least three months old due to the age requirement for rabies vaccination.
All dogs traveling to Norway must be treated for dwarf tapeworm (deworming), this is an antiparasitic treatment. This requirement does not apply to cats and ferrets and arriving dogs. directly from Finland, Malta or Ireland.
Treatment against dwarf tapeworm must be carried out by a veterinarian at least 24 and maximum 120 hours before arrival in Norway. An alternative is to treat your dog on two different dates, with a maximum of 28 days apart. Thereafter, the dog is treated at least every 28 days. If you want to end the treatment plan, the dog must receive final treatment in Norway within 28 days of the previous treatment. All treatments must be carried out by a veterinarian. This option can be beneficial for frequent travelers.
When animals are imported from countries belonging to the EU/EEA area, the animals and the necessary documents must be presented to the customs authorities without being invited for inspection. Walk or drive to the red zone to the customs clearance point.
