19 people died in September accidents. There have not been so many deaths in the first autumn month since 2013. So far in road accidents a total of 100 people died. This is according to preliminary data from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.

– This is the fifth month in a row in which we record a high number of road traffic fatalities, says the head of traffic safety road at the Norwegian Roads Administration Public, Guro Ranes. 100 people killed at the beginning of autumn is definitely too many.
1 in 3 fatalities are motorcyclists
Eleven people have died in motorcycle accidents in the last two months. That's one in three people killed. Many accidents are accidents in which no other people were involved, but head-on accidents and rollovers also occur. The Norwegian Public Roads Authority promises to address this matter together with its partners.
An unusually high number of accidents in which several people die
Many of the fatalities were very young people (16-24 years old) and middle-aged people (44-64 years old). In 2023, significantly fewer people in the over-65 age group died in road accidents. A more unusual phenomenon is the large number of accidents in which several people die in one incident. There have been seven such accidents in the last three months.
