Vegvesen tolls

2017 is the last year

where an annual vehicle fee is required. The annual fee will be converted into a motor insurance fee and will be invoiced from 2018 via your car insurer. The restructuring will simplify and provide greater flexibility car owners. New the fee will be as per with the vehicle insurance contract. Since the insurance contract lasts one year, some will already receive invoices with the fee for motor insurance for the entire year 2018. The rest remained quarterly or monthly, depending on the insurance repayment option they chose.

In May 2018, there will be changes in the way road tax is charged in Norway.

We will pay the fee we paid to Vegvesen to Insurance company, in which we insure a given vehicle.

Annual car tax /arsavgift will be replaced with the so-called motor insurance fee /trafikkforsikringsavgift.
gibbon We will pay the fee to the Company insurance company, where we insure a given car.
The insurer collects this fee on behalf of the state.
A fee will be charged only for the period in which we use the vehicle, i.e. when the car is registered and insured with basic insurance.
It will be possible to pay the tax in installments together with the insurance.

The upcoming changes are intended to simplify the charging methods for the Ministry of Finance and contribute to a more productive one
use of funds.

The Ministry also ensures that the changes introduced do not contribute to carpooling fee rates. This amount will be charged at an amount corresponding to the annual amount we would have paid to Vegvesen.
Changes in the toll will also benefit people who buy or deregister their vehicles during the year. And this is thanks to this and, as we mentioned earlier, we only pay for the days on which the vehicle will be registered.
