Minister for Fisheries and Oceans Cecilie Myrseth traveled to London to strengthen maritime cooperation between Norway and the UK. On Monday, she attended the General Assembly of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and met the British deputy minister responsible for maritime transport, Lord Davies.

– The UK is our most important maritime partner and there is great demand for Norwegian solutions both in the UK and in the EU. I want to highlight the work Norway is doing in this area and strengthen cooperation with the British, says Minister of Fisheries and Oceans Cecilie Myrseth.
The maritime sector is important to the Norwegian economy and will play an important role as Norway enters into a green transition. The government's ambition is to halve emissions from domestic shipping and fishing by 2030.
– In the coming years, the maritime industry must reduce emissions and increase digitalization. It will create new opportunities for activity and work. One of my most important tasks is to ensure that Norway can strengthen its position as a leading global player in new and ecological maritime solutions and services, says Minister of Fisheries and Oceans Cecilie Myrseth.
