The launch of fees is postponed

The latest information shows that yesterday's dramatic bus fire is affecting local transport and public transport in the region. For this reason, the opening and launch of tolls is postponed until public transport is restored.

Bypakke Nedre Glomma's management group held an emergency meeting. The decision to postpone was made and the following message was sent to Vegfinans to postpone the planned opening of fees on January 24 to a later date.

On Wednesday, January 24, 2024, toll collection points will be launched

On January 24, Østfold will launch a total of 23 automated toll collection points in the Nedre Glomma area. Such a city package regarding the financing of new transport projects was adopted by the city councils in Sarpsborg and Fredrikstad. Toll revenues will fund new transport projects for a total amount of NOK 10,8 billion.

In total, these 23 automatic toll booths in Nedre Glomma will remain there and collect money until 2039. This situation may change if the planned investments are repaid faster. They have to stand there and collect money for a total of 15 years.

Fees will also affect small entrepreneurs

Unfortunately, as usual, this money will be taken out of drivers' pockets. There are already voices saying that many motorists visiting e.g. shopping centers located in Sarpsborg or Fredrikstad will probably limit their visits there precisely because of these fees. These additional fees will certainly also affect small entrepreneurs.
