On March 20, an exhibition of press cartoons from last year opened in the Storting. The drawings, which will now hang in the corridor next to the Storting's restaurant, illustrate various political issues.

An exhibition of caricatures was opened in Stortinget
– Press cartoons that criticize and harass are in practice freedom of speech. Cartoons have a natural place in the Storting and as politicians we must endure being looked at through the eyes of newspaper cartoonists. It's easy to understand that many of the cartoons are about impartiality, says Storting President Masud Gharahkhani.
Every year, the Storting presents an exhibition of press cartoons devoted to Norwegian politics. These drawings are on loan to the Storting for a year, and some of them are also purchased as a permanent part of the Storting's art collection. The drawings will hang in the corridor leading to the Storting restaurant and are curated by MiA Avistegnernes hus.

Effective criticism of the authorities
Torstein Tvedt Solberg heads the art committee at the Storting and was involved in selecting the press drawings that will be included in this year's exhibition.
– Personally, I like caricatures because they are an effective criticism of the authorities, and Norwegian politicians were also included in this exhibition. The caricature is funny, accurate and hard to argue with. The articles present in a precise way what is not easy to put into words. I think many politicians will laugh when they see these drawings in the corridor leading to the Parliament restaurant. The exhibition sums up the past year beautifully, with both humor and seriousness, says Torstein Tvedt Solberg.
Anyone who wants can come and look at the newspaper drawings during the open art tours in Stortinget, which take place on Mondays at 18 p.m.
