Christmas in Norway. Christmas is a happy and happy time. We want to spend it with our loved ones. It is very often the only occasion a year to meet relatives - especially for us, the Polish diaspora in Norway. Before we all sit down at the family table, we encourage you to read our publication. We want to introduce you to the customs and traditions of Christmas in Norway. Although the backbone related to Christmas remains the same - the form of celebrating, representing Santa Claus (called Julenissen in Norway) is slightly different than in Poland. We encourage you to read!

Christmas in Norway - feel the magic of Christmas Markets ...

The Christmas season in Norway begins on the very first day of the Christmas Markets. We can take part in them in large towns and small towns, where they captivate with the climate. They delight with their visual side, the smell of regional delicacies, mulled wine ... The Christmas spirit is in the air. Entire towns are surrounded by beautiful lamps. The organizers prepare attractions for the whole family - there are exhibitions, concerts, theater performances. These are great events. At the Christmas table ...

In Poland, carp is still undoubtedly number one on Polish tables. For Norwegians, the main fish dish is leached fish (lutefisk). It is prepared with great commitment - the dried cod carcass is soaked in water for several days. Then 1-2 days in an aqueous solution of potassium or sodium hydroxide. To sum up, at the end it has to rest in water again - after these three preparatory elements it can be boiled. Lutefisk usually comes to the table with potatoes, bacon and special sauces. It is worth paying attention to the fact that Norwegians love w Christmas eat pork in festive form ribs. The favorite Christmas drink is uniquely brewed Christmas beer.
