Holidays in the country

According to the report "Holiday customs of Poles", prepared and published by the giftmarzeń website, 67 percent of 2 respondents spent their holidays in Poland, and 12 percent of people chose to travel abroad. More than half of them organized their stay on their own.

What are Poles looking for?

As it turns out, vacationers are looking for more and more interesting attractions. They also allocate more and more funds for them. They are looking for experiences that can be found, for example, in the case of bungee jumping, flying a sightseeing plane or using a flyboard. Poles are willing to spend from PLN 300 to even PLN 400 for taking advantage of such an offer.

The preference for forms of recreation is changing

Until recently, 50 percent of Poles were lazy during their holidays. Today, the percentage of people who prefer this form of recreation is only about 25 percent of all tourists. We are more and more willing to choose sightseeing, which was declared by 39 percent of respondents. Not much less, 36 percent, practice some sport. City tourism is also becoming fashionable. Short weekend trips to largest cities are becoming more and more popular, and the following places are chosen: Kraków, Gdańsk, Warsaw, Gdynia, Wrocław and Poznań.

Polish escapades abroad

Among foreign travel preferences Poles, in 2017 Greece was the most popular. This was indicated by 35 percent of people participating in the August survey of the Polish Chamber of Tourism. However, Egypt is coming back into favor - last year this country was chosen by 7,1 percent of respondents, which represents an increase of over 200% compared to 2016. However, it should be mentioned that the three most frequently visited countries - Greece, Bulgaria and Spain - account for approximately 2/3 of all Polish tourist traffic.

What else does the report of the Polish Chamber of Tourism show?

The conclusions of the report concerning tourist trips of Poles are as follows:

  • As a result of the warm May and September in southern Europe, Poles are becoming more and more they are more willing to choose these months as your vacation dates,
  • Poles are more and more willing to use air travel, and less and less often to coach trips,
  • most often, the leave covers a week stay at your destination in a hotel of a high standard.

The above indicates major changes in tourism practiced by Poles. It is clearly visible that their leisure model is changing. Less and less popular enjoys passive relaxation in terms of sightseeing and sports. We also spend more and more during holidays and expect to experience new experiences. However, we prefer to spend our holidays in Poland. If we do go abroad, it is most often to Greece, Bulgaria and Spain - these countries account for approximately 2/3 of all tourist traffic. Additionally, we prefer traveling by plane and are becoming more and more reluctant to travel by bus.
