They were arrested in Oslo
Kripos made the arrest last Wednesday, but only now has the public information been released. Such proceedings were related to the investigation carried out in relation to three other persons suspected of participating in the smuggling. Two Kripos men were detained in Oslo. They had over 100 kilograms of marijuana with them, which is a forbidden drug in Norway. This is one of the largest such cases in recent times.
They are known to the Danish police
This is not the first crime of two Danes. The older of them (60-year-old) was embroiled in a high-profile case that took place in the 90's. At that time, he was responsible for the operation of transporting over six tons of Moroccan marijuana, which ended up on the black market in Denmark. Before being stopped, the smugglers had thrown all the goods overboard the boat. The investigation ended only in 2009 and the man was sentenced to 6 years in prison.
The younger Dan also had previous records of drug smuggling. In 2007, he was convicted of smuggling 700 kg of hashish from the Netherlands to Denmark. The crime was detected thanks to the joint work of the German, Danish and Dutch police.
Denmark will not interfere in the case
According to the Norwegian police, the Danish services will not interfere in any way with their citizens. Two men will be tried in Norway because the crime happened in the territory of the Kingdom. The Norwegians, who were detained last Thursday, are also involved in the case. Now the whole group is waiting for a court hearing. It remains a matter of dispute whether they will be accused only of smuggling or of acting in an organized criminal group.
