Historia Prawdziwa is in fact a film adaptation of Arkady Fiedler's reportage, which was made at the request of General Władysław Sikorski himself, to commemorate Polish soldiers. Fiedler presented those in the book as awe-inspiring figures: brave soldiers, but also real people, with an abundance of virtues and vices.

Witold "Kobra" Urbanowicz (Piotr Adamczyk) becomes the commander of the unit, and Jan "Donald" Zumbach (Maciej Zakościelny) turns out to be his most colorful protégé.
