The Poles confirmed their class in the match against the Serbs, with whom they won 3-0 in the first match of the third phase of the Volleyball World Championship. During this tournament, our volleyball players faced the Balkan team for the second time. They also won 3-0 in the first clash, but the course of the game was much calmer for the Polish team.
A harder game than last time
Polish volleyball players won the first clash 3-0 without any major problems. Yesterday's result was similar, but all sets were not won with such a clear dominance. The Serbs set hard conditions. Ultimately, however, the Poles could enjoy the 3-0 victory (28-26, 28-26, 25-22).
"We haven't won anything yet"
However, Piotr Nowakowski is not enthusiastic. After the match, he gave an interview for Eurosport, in which he stated unequivocally that “This match was different from our previous match with Serbia. The rivals played with a different line-up and a little better. Nevertheless, we managed to achieve the same result, which makes us very happy, but we have not won anything yet. In the next game we have to show at least the same game to eliminate the Italians. It will be a really nice experience and a fight for the World Cup ”.

The situation in the group of J.
After Thursday's victory, the Poles take the first place in group J. Nevertheless, Serbia has already secured promotion to the semi-finals due to the so-called "Small points". In the match against Poland, they had to get at least 52 of them to be sure of promotion. Whether the Biało-Czerwoni also advance depends on the meeting with the Italians. However, they do not necessarily have to win it - it is enough for them to win at least one set. The result of 1: 3 for the hosts of the tournament will give us promotion to the semi-finals anyway.
One unknown
The teams that have definitely advanced to the semi-finals are Serbia, the United States and Brazil. Russia is eliminated from the tournament and goes for gold World Championships has been waiting since 1982, when the USSR national team stood on the highest step of the podium. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1992, the only thing missing from the collection of the Russian national team is the World Cup gold disc.
