Controversial production
The film Kler is a controversial production. Several facts decide about it: it touches upon the issues of the influence of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland, it was made by a popular director, and should also receive a prestigious award at the Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia. It was the longest applauded production with a total of 11 minutes of applause. It is customary in such situations to award the Golden Klakier statuette, but at the last minute the President of Polish Radio Gdańsk decided at the last minute that this award would not be awarded to anyone.

Ban in Ostrołęka
In recent days, the Internet has also lived with the ban on screening the film, which was introduced in Ostrołęka. The only city cinema in this town belongs to the Municipal Cultural Center, which is managed by the authorities of Ostrołęka.
The local president - Janusz Kotowski - has been performing his function for 12 years. Previously, he worked, among others as a catechist and director of the Social Secondary School of Economics. It was the president who decided that the film Kler would not be shown in the only cinema in Ostrołęka.
In an interview with Tygodnik Ostrowiecki, the manager of the "Jantar" cinema in Ostrołęka admitted that he did not rule out the screening of the film in October. According to his assurances, the repertoire is still being compiled. Certainly, however, on the day of its premiere (September 28), there will be no screening of the film Kler in the city's cinema.

For residents, however, the lack of a session is not a problem. Other institutions in the region will broadcast this film on their screens. The show will take place, among others in nearby Łomża, where there is a private cinema called "Millenium". It is only 37 km from Ostrołęka, in addition, several buses run between the towns during the day.
Not only Ostrołęka
Not only the inhabitants of Ostrołęka have a problem with watching the controversial production. There will be screenings in Grodzisk Mazowiecki with a month delay, and the councilors in Ełk vote on a resolution banning the screening of the film in public institutions. Tomasz Andrukiewicz - President of Ełk - in an interview with polsatnews.pl expressed the hope that the ban would not be introduced. He stated unequivocally that: “We live in the XNUMXst century and the issues of censorship are long gone. The councilor filed an application on his own behalf, which cannot be approved by me ”.
The film had a record opening
The production was long-awaited. The size of the commercial success is evidenced not only by the fact that it was the most applauded film at the Gdynia Film Festival. Last weekend, it recorded the best opening in Polish cinematography in 30 years. On the first days of the premiere, the production of Smarzowski's work was watched by 935 357 viewers. This is the best result since 1989. This result is better, among others from "Fifty Shades of Gray" - the screening of the popular novel attracted 834 viewers at the same time.
Will the film Kler in Norway have an equally impressive opening?
Father Adam Szustak went to the cinema
Father Adam Szustak is a famous Dominican who with his form of evangelization is conquering the Internet all over the world. He decided to watch the production and to that end he went to the cinema wearing his habit. As he confessed in an interview with WP.pl: “I am grateful for this production. All the things in the film are true, but it is worth knowing that this is not the only truth about the Church. I was disappointed with the ending that gave me no faith and hope. "
The film Kler in Norway can be watched from 19 October. The screenings will take place in many cities, including in Bergen, Oslo, Stavanger and others.
Film Kler in Norway - description of the distributor
A few years ago, tragic events linked the fate of three Catholic priests. Now, on each anniversary of the catastrophe they miraculously escaped with their lives, the clergy meet to celebrate the fact of their survival. They arrange things very differently on a daily basis. Lisowski (Jacek Braciak) works at the curia in a big city and makes a career dreaming about the Vatican. The problem is that Archbishop Mordowicz (Janusz Gajos), a luxurious church dignitary who uses political influence to build the largest sanctuary in Poland, stands in his way ... The other priest - Trybus (Robert Więckiewicz), unlike Lisowski, is a rural parish priest. While ministering in a place of poverty, he increasingly succumbs to human weakness. Kukule (Arkadiusz Jakubik) is not doing very well either, who - despite his fervent faith - loses the trust of his parishioners overnight. Soon the stories of the three clergymen will merge once again, and the events that will take place will have an impact on the lives of each of them.
