Winter is not yet here. However, this does not prevent the snow from effectively hindering the Monday morning traffic on Norwegian roads. Importantly - Statens vegvesen informs about the closure of some of them due to severe weather conditions.

Closed roads

Extreme weather conditions are to be expected on Fylkesvei 55 above Sognefjellet. Statens vegvesen informs about an intense storm that is causing this road to be closed. The decision was made public at 7:00 AM - a new report on the situation will be made public at 13:00 PM.

There is snow on these roads

According to information provided by Statens vegvesen, be careful on several other roads. There was snow on them in the morning, which, combined with the temperature oscillating around zero degrees Celsius, creates dangerous driving conditions. Be especially careful on the following sections:

  • E134 over Haukelifjell - snowfall is possible, and at 5:30 the temperature was zero degrees Celsius,
  • E16 over Filefjell between Sogn og Fjordane and Oppland - snowfall is possible, the road is covered with a layer of ice, and there are places with limited visibility,
  • Highway 7 over Hardangervidda between Hordaland and Buskerud - this section is where the most intense snowfall is expected, as well as a layer of ice on the asphalt. At 5:40 the mercury bars showed -2 degrees Celsius there,
  • E6 on Dovrefjell between Oppland and Sør-Trøndelag - there is a high risk of very slippery sections of the road on this section. At 5:45 the thermometers showed -5 degrees Celsius, the northwest wind was blowing and the sky was overcast.

Traffic on the E16 road near Valdres is also obstructed. At 7:05 am an ambulance heading to Røn collided head-on with a passenger car. Currently, the police do not provide information on the injured. It is unofficially known that one person who was transported to the hospital was injured.

Military columns should be expected

The Main Road Traffic Center also informs about the difficulties that may arise as a result of the movement of columns of military vehicles. This can be on the E6 between Værnes and Klett and also on the E39 between Klett and Kristiansand. Military cars will also appear on the E6 Værnes-Levanger and E14 Stjørdal-Storlien sections.
