Dagpenger - the most important conditions

Dagpenger you will get it after meeting the following conditions:

  • Your working time has been reduced by a minimum of 50%,
  • you had an income of 1,5 G in the last year or an average of 3 G in the last three years,
  • you have registered as a jobseeker in the NAV database and you submit a registration card every 14 days,
  • you are a person really searching work,
  • Your stay in Norway is legal.

Deadlines are important

It is worth remembering that you have 4 weeks to submit a complete application for granting dagpenger from the moment of registering as an unemployed person. If you are unable to submit the required documentation within the time limit set, you should contact NAV as soon as possible. In some situations, it is possible to extend the deadline.

Waiting time

For the first 3 days dagpenger no funds will be paid to you. This period is called waiting time. During this time, you must meet all the conditions that entitle you to receive it allowance. This period must end by the 15th working day. If you fail to do so, your payout will be held until all mandatory criteria are met.

  • income from benefits:
    • sickness (Norwegian Sykepenger),
    • caring (Norwegian Omsorgspenger),
    • care (Norwegian Pleiepenger),
    • educational (norw. Opplæringspenger),
    • pregnancy (Norwegian Svangerskapspenger),
    • parental (Norwegian Foreldrepenger),
    • dla unemployed (Norwegian Dagpenger)

IMPORTANT! Own business income, income exceeding 6 G and one-time childbirth grant are not included in the basis for calculating dagpenger!

Maintenance allowance
