Two people died while flying in Meråker

Today, in the late afternoon, there was a tragic accident. A small-sized plane crashed at Meråker in Trøndelag. Two people are dead. 

Airplane accident in Meråker

The incident took place late tonight. The police, gendarmerie, firefighters and local residents of the vicinity of the accident participated in the search for the plane. Several helicopters and a group of volunteers were also asked to join the action. Unfortunately, before 19:00, the Norwegian police informed TV NRK that two people on board the plane were dead.

Quick rescue operation

Although the emergency signal from a small plane reached the main emergency center in Norway quickly, it was not possible to save the people on board. The threat signal was sent after 16 p.m.

The causes of the accident are unknown

At the moment, the causes of the tragic accident are still unknown. The area around the plane is blocked by the police and a technical investigation is to be carried out tomorrow morning. The plane that crashed in Meråker today is a private single-engine machine. The flight took off in Værnes. The plane headed east. Police are still trying to determine whether the two men who died were experienced pilots. The Air Traffic Commission was informed about the entire incident.
