For Ukrainians, registration with the police is an entry ticket to Norwegian society.

The Ministry of Justice and Emergency Preparedness will now inform Ukrainians in Norway that they must register in order to be eligible for: residence, healthcare, work permits, kindergartens, schools and family immigration.
They fear that they may then be deprived of their passports or identity documents
Many Ukrainians who come to Norway do not know that they need to register to get the best help. Some people fear that they may then be deprived of their passports or identity papers, but there is no danger of doing so.
About 80 percent of those who arrive are women and children. For example, arranging a place in kindergarten and school may take some time. The sooner people sign up, the sooner they'll get an offer.
