You can already feel the magic of the upcoming holidays all around. It is a time of many traditions that have been cultivated for a very long time. Hay on the Christmas Eve table or midnight mass is one of the many traditions that we know. However, each country has its own, and what are the strangest Christmas traditions in the world?

The first Christmas, breaking a wafer, Christmas Eve hay, decorating a Christmas tree, singing Christmas carols, giving gifts to each other are some of the many traditions that we all know. However, we know that we live in a world characterized by many cultures and traditions. So it's time to get to know the traditions of other countries, but these the strangest Christmas traditions.

Slovakia

Our southern neighbor and his Christmas tradition of throwing food. Admittedly, it is a very strange custom, but it is not practiced in every Slovak home. How does it look like? Before family members sit down to dinner together, the head of the family scoops one of the selected dishes onto a spoon and throws it against the ceiling. Why are they doing this? It is a superstition that the more food is left on the ceiling, the more happiness will be waiting for the household members in the coming year.

Japan

A country where holidays are purely commercial. You won't find 12 dishes there and a table around which the whole family sits. But where can we meet its citizens on this day? I guess no one will be surprised when we write that restaurants such as KFC are extremely crowded during Christmas. Moreover, it turns out that the traffic on this day, in the above-mentioned The place is so large that it is now possible to reserve tables. Another interesting fact is that if we decide to spend there holidays and send a Christmas card from Japan red, for our loved ones, it's better to buy it in Poland. Why? In Japan, mourning notices are printed on paper of this color. 

Venezuela

Going to church is perfectly normal. We are used to going to Mass or commuting by some means of communication. In Venezuela, however, on the streets Caraces, on Christmas Eve, the passage for cars is completely closed. The reason for this is to allow residents to reach the church, on rollers. Residents have been doing it for many years, which has become their tradition.

Germany

Our next neighbors and theirs the strangest Christmas traditions. Well, the Christmas tree and its decoration is a tradition that has become a permanent part of the Christmas season. In Germany it is also dressed, but as in our case, often an angel or a star shines on its top, so with German neighbors it happens ...green cucumber. However, there is a further bottom to this. The cucumber is not real, but glass. However, before it hangs on the top of the tree, it is hidden among the branches of the Christmas tree. The first child to find him receives an extra gift as a reward, and will be even more fortunate next year.
