The spyware for gathering information is developed by the NSO Group, a cyber surveillance company. It can be secretly installed on mobile phones and other devices. MEPs will discuss the fundamental rights implications of such supervision with the following guests:
- Laurent Richard (executive director Forbidden Stories , award winner Daphne Caruana Galizia 2021)
- Etienne Maynier (technologist, Security Laboratory Amnesty International)
- Wojciech Wiewiorowski, European Data Protection Supervisor

Importantly, however, no country was mentioned by name in this warning. In Poland, Jan Grabiec, a member of the Civic Coalition, announced that a meeting of the Digitization of Innovation and Modern Technologies Committee would be convened on this matter.
