In the future, there will be fewer specialists per patient. The Health Personnel Committee makes it clear that there is a need for restructuring, investment in skilled workers and performing tasks at the appropriate level of competence.

– We must use the knowledge and time of professionals properly and in a good way. For this government, this means that competences need to be built from the bottom up, and that starts with the skilled workers who work in the health and care sector. We will promote qualified people employees and works these are ongoing, says Minister of Health and Care Ingvild Kjerkol.

The Minister points out that regional health organizations must promote the correct division of tasks and assess the need for specialist knowledge. This task has been delegated to public health institutions in the revised allocation document.

In addition, the government has strengthened Tørn project with NOK 30 million in the revised national budget . The project has been expanded to include an all-health and care program that includes both municipalities and hospitals. Tørn is an experiment with new forms of work and organization. It is to contribute to a better use of the knowledge and time of medical staff, and thus provide more sustainable services.

“Tørn is important to attract more full-time positions, employees with formal healthcare expertise and to support the work towards a good division of labor. Safe and good working conditions are also conducive to recruitment, which highlights how important it is for this government to ensure that employees want to work in our joint health and care service, says Kjerkol.

Work on strengthening skilled workers will also be the subject of the National Health and Cooperation Plan, which is to be submitted to the Storting before Christmas.
