Mother's Day - since when do we celebrate it?

To find out about the origins of Mother's Day, we must go back to the times of the ancient Greeks and Romans. Mother - goddess, symbol of fertility and femininity - was surrounded by great worship. The cult continued until Christianity took over the Roman Empire. The cult revived in seventeenth-century England under the name Sunday at my mother's. Every year on the fourth Sunday of Lent, prayers were held in the nearest cathedral. Mothers were given flowers, sweets and small gifts in exchange for blessings. The custom survived until the 19th century. It was reborn after World War II. As you can see Mother's Day It was already celebrated even in very distant times - it is not a new tradition.
