We have very important information for the residents of Bergen - a dangerous bacterium has been detected in tap water. This is yet another case with tap water in Norway over a period of several weeks. We recently wrote about an infection in the municipality of Askøy, which resulted in the death of a little boy. "Water in Bergen - we have a bacterial problem," the municipality said in a press release. The largest number of bacteria is found in the Riplegården drinking water tank. At the moment, the alert was held by some 2500 people living in and around Laksevåg, particularly close to Melkeplassen / Riplegården.

Bergen - bacteria in tap water

The problem was discovered while running a proof test. The presence of coliform bacteria in water is a fact. What exactly is the type of E-coli bacteria? It's still unknown. We are optimistic, but recognize that at worst they may turn out to be an enterohemorrhagic strain. However, the commune recommends special caution regardless of the test results. The water in Bergen is of the best quality and you have to be careful about what you drink.
